wonder girls originally debuted in 2007, with the title track “irony” from the album "the wonder begins." The group originally debuted with five members, yeeun, sunye, sunmi, sohee, and hyuna.
after being a trainee for 2 years yubin finally debuted in wonder girls in 2007 during "tell me" era. she was meant to replace hyuna, who left due to health problems. she was added last minute, only given a week to learn the song + choreography, and as a result, is not a part of their first full-length album “the wonder years.”
from tell me forward wonder girls continued to grow in popularity and praise with their chart-topping anthems 'so hot' (2008) and "nobody" (2008).
In 2009 they would debut in america with the english version of nobody, which debuted at number 76 on the billboard top 100, making them the first kpop group to chart on billboard. that same year they joined the jonas brothers on stage for their jonas brothers world tour where they performed english versions of their hit songs.
In january of 2010, it was announced that sunmi, then age 18, would go on hiatus to pursue her academic career, and as later revealed by herself and the members, prioritize her mental health. hyelim was added in her place and debuted with the title track and single album "2 different tears", which included korean, chinese, and english versions.
In 2011 they released their full-length album entitled "wonder world", with a title track of "be my baby." many of the members have production and songwriting credits on this album.
In 2012 they came out with their movie "the wonder girls" premiering on teen nick, with the promotional single "the dj is mine" featuring american pop group "school gyrls" and the unreleased song "like money", later released as an english version featuring akon.
In 2012 they would release their last album as five members entitled "wonder party" with the title track of "like this."
In january of 2013, all wonder girls members came together to attend the wedding of sunye. later that year she gave birth to a daughter but did not officially leave the group until december 2014. In december of 2013 sohee left jyp entertainment and signed with bh Entertainment and later keyeast Entertainment to focus on an acting career. she has been successful in her acting career, you might recognize her as the role of jinhee in the 2016 blockbuster "train to busan."
In 2015, after a 3-year group hiatus, wonder girls returned as four members with a completely new concept. They were going to promote mainly as a band, with yubin on drums, sunmi on bass, hyelim on guitar, and yenny on keyboard.
They made their comeback with the full-length album "reboot" and the title track "i feel you" on august 3rd of that year. i feel you was a complete success, debuting at 5 on the gaon charts and 2 on billboard's world album chart. reboot as an album was also ranked no 1 on billboard's top 10 kpop Albums of 2015 and no 18 on fusetv's 20 best albums of 2015.
In july 2016 they would release their last album as a group, a single album entitled "why so lonely" with a title track of the same name. why so lonely topped the gaon charts.
In january of 2017, it was announced that wonder girls would be disbanding after 10 years of being a group. yubin and hyelim renewed their contracts with jyp, while sunmi and yeeun did not. sunmi signed with makeus entertainment and maintained her idol career. yeeun signed to amoeba entertainment choosing to go for a more indie route.

on february 10th 2017 wonder girls released their last song as a group, the single "draw me", which was released to commemorate their ten year anniversary.
